Labour values would insist that Scottish independence would be a matter for Scotland. But there are different ways of expressing that in opposition and it’s a political hot potato for the Labour party and Keir Starmer. Jon Ashworth, a senior Labour MP, made a clumsy statement about it this weekend, so I discuss how I would play it and how I would urge Labour to play it.
